Hong Kong singer Sandy Lam emerged (林憶蓮) as the biggest winner of Taiwan's 24th Golden Melody Awards, bagging four awards, including Best Mandarin Album for "Gaia” and Best Mandarin Female Singer.
"Gaia,” which garnered six nominations, also won Best Musical Arranger and Best Album Producer.
Taiwanese aboriginal a cappella singing group O-Kai Singers (歐開合唱團), which was also nominated for six awards, garnered the Jury Award, Best Aboriginal Album and Best Group.
Taiwanese singer Jam Hsiao (蕭敬騰) grabbed Best Mandarin Male Singer, while Taiwanese rock band Monkey Pilot (猴子飛行員) took home the trophy for Best Band. Best New Artist went to Taiwanese American rapper and songwriter Miss Ko (葛仲珊).
Taiwanese pop icon Jay Chou's (周杰倫) "Opus 12,” which received four nominations, failed to win an award. Taiwanese pop diva Jolin Tsai's (蔡依林) "MUSE,” which also had four nominations, brought home Best Song of the Year.
Meanwhile, the Special Contribution Award was awarded to late pop legend Fong Fei-fei (鳳飛飛).
Other winners included Best Hakka Singer Tito Tang (湯宇歆), Best Aboriginal Singer Sangpuy Katatepan (桑布伊), Best Taiwanese Male Singer Hsieh Ming-you (謝銘祐) and Best Taiwanese Female Singer Sasha Lee (李婭莎).
