TAIWANESE ARTISTS LIGHT UP PARIS WITH MUSIC

Pop diva Jolin Tsai and three other Taiwanese artists on Wednesday lit up Paris with music at a concert that aims to promote Taiwanese music on the international stage, organizers said on Thursday.

Some 1,300 audience attended the Taiwan Night concert at Le Trianon in Paris, which features Tsai, singer-songwriter William Wei and Yen and Z of the electronic band Salamander, said Great Capital Artist, which was commissioned by Taiwan's Ministry of Culture to organize the event.

Salamander remixed songs by Taiwan's award-winning artists, while Wei hit the stage with his 'The Moon,' followed by his other hits including 'We'll Never Know' and 'One More Try.'

Tsai, accompanied by six dancers, performed her popular hits including 'The Great Artist,' 'Dancing Diva,' 'Magic,' and 'Beast' to an excited crowd, who she greeted in Chinese, English and simple French.

The concert is part of Taiwan's efforts to promote its music at the MIDEM (Marche International du Disque et de l'Edition Musicale), the world's largest music-industry trade fair held in Cannes from Jan. 26-29.
The fair attracts thousands of musicians, producers, and managers each year.

Taiwanese rock band Mayday performed at the music event in January last year.
