Site launched to mark 70th anniversary of human rights declaration

2018 is the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights! Countries and people around the world, regardless of their workplaces, laws, education systems, or religions, continue to use this declaration to promote human rights for all and move towards a better and more harmonious world.

In response to this anniversary, the National Human Rights Museum has planned a publicity campaign for promoting the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in Taiwan by inviting the people of the country to read, understand, and promote the declaration. The "Speak Up for Human Rights" website has been launched and people are invited to upload videos of themselves reading the declaration. The videos will show each participant reading one article from the declaration of his or her choosing, emphasizing that all people speak for human rights together, and that everyone can all become a spokesperson for the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

The "Speak Up for Human Rights" website has invited guests including former presidential advisor Ellen Huang (黃越綏), movie director Yang Ya-che (楊雅喆), filmmaker-actor Cheng Yu-chieh (鄭有傑), Golden Horse-winning documentary maker Fu Yue (傅榆), and internet celebrity Sandra "Roll Your Eyes" Ho (動眼神經) to carry out the first wave of tributes. The National Human Rights Museum will also hold a World Human Rights Day commemoration on Dec. 9.

Through the museum's interactive facilities, visitors can learn about the contents of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and watch videos on the theme website. In the future, patrol activities will also be arranged at public venues where passersby will be invited to read from the declaration and show their support for human rights.
