GTA X GCA Joint Exhibition to showcase award-winning publication works

"Freedom FEAT. YOUR LIFE (自由 FEAT. YOUR LIFE)," a joint exhibition between the Golden Tripod Awards (GTA) and Golden Comic Awards (GCA), will display over 1,000 award-winning and shortlisted works at the gallery on the ground floor of the Ministry of Culture until August 31.

Under the theme of freedom, reading, and everyday life, the exhibition will present works that received recognitions at the 45th Golden Tripod Awards and the 12th edition of the Golden Comic Awards, as well as works by writer Chu An-min (初安民) and comic artist Ren Zheng-hua (任正華), who are the winners of last year's special contribution award. During the exhibition period, there will be five rounds of giveaway events held on the last Wednesday (10 am to 4 pm) of every month from April to August.

The Ministry, for the first time, decorated the lobby into a bookstore, in which featured publications are displayed to present the creators' devotion of time, spirit, and creativity to produce these works, said Culture Minister Lee Yung-te. In addition to hosting the Golden Tripod Awards and the Golden Comic Awards, MOC must increase the visibility of outstanding works through diverse marketing promotional strategies, stressed Minister Lee.

The curator of the event Yen Po-chun (顏伯駿) said that he hopes to restore the most ordinary scenes in life through this exhibition and to provoke thinking with these creative works. In fact, freedom is in our daily life and it has underpinned the Taiwanese culture, he added.

Founded in 1976, the Golden Tripod Awards is established to promote reading and enhance publications in Taiwan. Every year, the award honors distinguished Taiwanese publications and publishers across special contribution, magazine, book, and digital publication categories.

The Golden Comic Awards is the top honor for comics in Taiwan. First hosted by the Ministry of Culture in 2010, the annual awards have recognized comic artists with outstanding comic works and contributions to the comics industry, promoting and encouraging the production of comic books.
