To usher forth a new year, the National Hsinchu Living Arts Center has organized an exhibition featuring flower arrangements and floral pressings in contemporary, traditional, and cross-cultural context.
The first section, "Festive Floral Art,” will offer flower arrangements ranging from the jovial poinsettias associated with the Western Christmas to the auspicious fruits and decorations essential for the Chinese New Year.
The second section, "Atmospheric Settings,” will showcase the use of flower arrangements in sprucing up the home entrance, the living room, and the banquet table.
The third section, "Floral Lifestyle,” will delve into the possibilities of using live and dried flowers in creating unique décor, jewelry, potted table accessories, and gifts.
The last section, "The Art of Floral Pressings,” will display artwork such as paintings and accessories made with de-humidified flower cuttings and leaves.
Workshops on floral arrangements, pressings, card making, and Chinese papercutting will also be held throughout the month-long event. Pictures can be found here.
