"TEA x CRAFT: Tea Room Design Exhibition,” a six-month event celebrating the meditative and aesthetic qualities of the all-immersive tea culture in Taiwan, will take place in Nantou County from Oct. 8 to April 3, 2016.
At the intersection of contemporary technology and flourishing arts, the need for calm and peace becomes more urgent than ever. Only over a cup of tea can people relax again and communicate in a meaningful manner.
By extending the tea container metaphor, a living room can be viewed as the container of daily life. And much like how a well-designed tea set elevates the experience of drinking tea, a tea room will take living space to the next level of comfort and tranquility.
Tea ceremonies in Taiwan - which combine the art of tea, literature, music, floral arrangement, craftsmanship, and spatial allocation - are the ultimate show of aesthetics and zen. When the atmosphere is thick with the sounds of poetry and music, and the environment shadowed by books and paintings, the space becomes rich in philosophical charm.
A tea ceremony can be held for a couple, a dozen, or more people. When the rite starts, experts serve tea, musicians play instruments, and friends savor the moment - the beauty of Taiwan's tea culture speaks for itself.
Handcrafted with locally sourced organic materials, nine unique tea room designs will be on display at the 'TEA x CRAFT' exhibition. For more information, please visit the event page (Chinese only).
