"Taiwan and the meaning of the six-letter-word is no longer just an island on the map, it now stands for a palace of art, which artists can resonate with and have respect for in their hearts.” — Art Director Lee Sun-don (李善單)
Art Revolution Taipei (A.R.T.) — a yearly international art fair that comprises trade, competition, and charity — will take place in Taiwan's capital city from May 8 to 11 at the Taipei World Trade Center.
Since its debut in 2011, A.R.T. attracts more than 280 artists from over 62 countries on an annual basis. Some of this year's prominent participants include steel-welding Spanish artist Jordi Diez Fernandez; Russian satirical painter Denis Mikhaylov; German quantum physicist and sculptor Julian Voss-Andreae; Polish portrait artist Piotr Lesniak; and French digital photographer Gregoire A. Meyer.
The featured artists and their works will be exhibited across ten sections that will cover contemporary art from Taiwan, China, and New York, to an international artist salon, a special ink painting section, and a display reserved for winners of the fair's global competition.
The charity portion of the program, "Art Your Compassion,” will invite over 100 celebrity figures to make their own art on site. The 17.5cm by 14cm pieces will be auctioned at US$30 each, with all the proceedings going towards charity organizations. The name of each artist will only be revealed upon purchase.
The 2015 edition curated under the theme of "Enjoy Art, Enjoy Happiness” will be presented in garden-like environment, where an installation featuring an arched roof and fountain will help complete the illusion of savoring art in nature. Find out more at www.arts.org.tw.
