Address: No. 573 Zhongzheng Road, Caotun Village, Nantou County
A delegation comprising of renowned art groups and performers from China will be staging a series of performances in the spirit of the Lunar New Year holidays at the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute in Nantou County on March 1. It will be a creative event combining performing arts with crafts.
The line-up include Peking opera diva Shi Yihong (史依弘), erhu player Ma Xiaohui (馬曉暉), magician Yen Hezhi (嚴荷芝), vocalists Luo Yu (羅雨) and Xi Yenjuan (席燕娟), and Chinese suona player Hu Chenshao (胡晨韵).
A leading Chinese acrobatic ballet and the youth dance theater from the Shanghai Theatre Academy will also bring two shows to spread the Lunar New Year festivity ahead of the Lantern Festival, which falls on March 5 this year.
Many of the props used in acrobatics and musical instruments are finely crafted items, so the NTCRI selected these performances for visitors to appreciate the different aspects of traditional crafts through such acoustic and visual experience, said Hsu Keng-hsiu (許耿修), director of the institute.
