The 2014 Tainan Creative Life Festival will grandly take place from Dec. 6 to 14, offering a series of events ranging from concerts and art workshops to exhibitions and panel discussions.
Keiji Ashizawa, founder of Japan's Ishinomaki Laboratory, and American woodcut artist Jon Renzella will showcase their craftsmanship on the opening day. A strong line-up of pop stars, including award-winning singer Ricky Hsiao (蕭煌奇), artist Jacky Chen (陳建瑋), and female vocalist Ann Bai (白安) will then offer their original ballads at a concert on the same night.
The main concept of this year's festival touts the love for ideas, originality, and diversity of art. The events will be categorized in three major themes - "Handmade Style/Exhibition,” "Dreams and Craftsmanship/Lectures,” and "Originality and Crossovers/Performances.”
The exhibition section will feature an area for 10 local shops to sell handmade specialties and display their creativity. Visitors can also enjoy some DIY crafts activities at the "DIY Alley” section where artisans from 10 local studios will hold demonstrations.
At the festival, designers and artists from home and abroad will join in to discuss issues about community aesthetics and craft innovations. Several renowned Taiwan-based pop singers and bands, including William Wei (韋禮安), Claire Kuo (郭靜), Cosmos People (宇宙人), and Mixer (麋先生), will be staging performances as well.
