Upon the invite of the Taoyuan County's Department of Cultural Affairs, the world-renowned Cloud Gate Dance Theatre will stage a free outdoor performance at the Taoyuan Arts Plaza on July 19.
The free performance will include excerpts from the top classic Cloud Gate productions released during the past decade, including "Moon Water,” "Legacy,” "Pine Smoke,” and "How Can I Live on Without You.”
"Moon Water” is a choreographic study of temporal existence; "Legacy” follows the perilous journey across the Taiwan Strait undertaken by Han immigrants; "Pine Smoke” is the second production in group founder Lin Hwai-min's "Cursive” series; and "How Can I Live on Without You” depicts the human cycle of agony and ecstasy using iconic Chinese pop music.
The Taoyuan session is part of Cloud Gate's annual free outdoor performances this year. Two other sessions have been planned; July 5 at the Pingtung County Stadium and July 12 at the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall plaza. All three performances are admission-free and slated to kick off at 7:30 PM.
