Address:No. 2 Dongda Road Section 1, Hsinchu City, Taiwan
The biennial Hsinchu City International Glass Art Festival celebrating the beauty of glass art and the culture of the glass industry in Hsinchu will be held in northwestern Taiwan from July 12 to Aug. 31.
Organized under the theme of "Conquering Fantasy Island,” the festival offers fantastic glass sculptures through four sections — the International Glass Art Pavilion, the Asian Glass Art Pavilion, the Applied Glass Art Pavilion, and the Children Glass Experience Pavilion.
The international section will be graced with artworks crafted by 30 artists from 13 countries, while contrasting aesthetics and techniques in glass art will be shown in the Asian section.
To broaden the scope of the festival, the applied glass art section will highlight student designs with functional elements relating to everyday life, such as glassware used in gardening, cooking, home décor, accessories, and jewelry.
The festival will also offer an interactive section especially designed for younger children. Visitors will be able to enter the stomach of a giant manmade whale and learn about the secrets of the ocean world, and catch glass fishes in a game modeled after its real-life counterpart.
Performances by orchestras and dance groups, as well as live demonstrations by professional blow-glass artists, will also be held throughout the duration of the seven-week festival.
