Place:National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute
An exhibition chronicling the development of contemporary metal creation in Taiwan over the last two decades will run at the Living Craft Center in Nantou County until Oct. 12. Centered on the concept of "alchemy,” the exhibition features local metalwork artists, studios, and college students.
Contemporary metalwork artists have entered a new era of diversity, tolerance, and changes, said Hsu Keng-hsiu (許耿修), director of the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute that organized the exhibition.
The exhibition will lead visitors through three major forms of metalwork — daily ware, accessories, and decorative pieces. The event organizers aim to inspire artists to explore new fields and to introduce contemporary metalwork to the public.
The "Metal Creations” exhibition includes a total of 146 works by 52 Taiwanese artists, 10 metalwork studios, and 20 college students. The featured artists are also scheduled to demonstrate and lead hands-on metalwork sessions during the five-month exhibition.
