In order to mark the upcoming International Museum Day, which falls on May 18, the National Museum of Taiwan Literature in Tainan will hold a series of events to help the public discover the beauty of literature.
The series include four major events — community painting sessions, literary field trips, literary seminars, and a literary adventure to welcome new immigrants.
The community painting event, which will be curated by local artist Huang Tien-hsiang (黃鈿翔), will invite the public to try their hand at four-panel comic drawings and group painting activities on April 12.
On May 3 and 4, two separate field trips will take participants to visit the Old Five Channels Cultural Zone, a historical site in Tainan City; registration opens on April 14, and 25 slots will be available for each trip.
The field-trip route exploring the Old Five Channels Cultural Zone is based on 14 classic poems published in two of the NTML's collections — 'Anthology of Taiwanese Poetry' and 'Taiwan Classical Poetry.'
On May 10 and 16, two seminars marking the International Museum Day will focus on the restoration of photography collections and the revitalization of museum collections.
Rounding up the event series is a literary adventure for new immigrants on May 18. Jointly organized by the NTML and the National Immigration Agency's Tainan City First Service Center, the activities will include teaching participants how to make a Taiwanese rice cake with traditional molds.
