‘Palette Knife Painter’ featuring Chen Rui-hu

Address:No. 505 Section 4, RenAi Road, Xinyi District, Taipei City, 110

Taiwanese artist Chen Rui-hu (陳瑞瑚), who is best known for crafting beautiful oil paintings using only a palette knife, will hold a solo exhibition at the National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall from Jan. 8 through 23.

Born in 1957 in the southern Taiwanese county of Tainan, Chen devoted decades of his life towards refining his palette knife-painting techniques, in which he mastered the skills for producing sweeping areas of textured colors. To comply with the call for a low-carbon lifestyle, however, Chen has since given up using oil-based paints in recent years.

His legacy remains today in the fresh, natural, and warm style preserved in his classic oil painting works. For a taste of the simple satisfaction of southern Taiwan's sunshine and the joy of living, visit the "Palette Knife Painter” exhibition on the first floor of the Memorial Hall's Yat-sen Art Center.
