The National Taiwan Museum (NTM) is hosting an eco-friendly farming exhibition for children aged 5 through 13 at its South Gate Park. "Mao Mao's Journey to the Kingdom of Holes” introduces organic farming through the fictional journey of two characters, "Mao Mao” and "A Nong.” During the trip, they educate the audience about soil and the crises in Taiwan's agriculture, leading them through games differentiating natural and processed food, and exploring eco-friendly farming and consumption.
Two precious soil monoliths the NTM co-produced with the Cabinet-level Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute are also on display to exemplify soil conditions under customary farming and natural farming.
The issues of food safety and the reduction of quality agricultural land have raised public awareness of eco-friendly farming and consumption, said the organizer. The exhibition not only points out the crises but also provides different solutions, including a new understanding of food and processed food. In addition, the exhibition has interactive farming games to allow schoolchildren to experience what farming is really like.
