'Railway Art' joint exhibition

Address:No. 362 Fuxing Road, Section 3, Taichung City 40247, Taiwan

A railway-themed exhibition jointly organized by six railway art villages around Taiwan will run from Oct. 4 through Oct. 20 at the Taichung Cultural Creative Industries Park in central Taiwan.

More than 100 pieces of design and creative artworks from six railway art villages - Hsinchu Railway Art Village, Art Stock 20 in Taichung, Chiayi Railway Art Warehouse, Fangliao F3 Art District, Taitung Railway Art Village and Hualian Railway Art Village - will be on display at the special exhibition.

The exhibition not only revives idle public spaces but also demonstrates the creativity of amateur and budding artists, Shy Gwo-long, director-general of the Bureau of Cultural Heritage, said at the opening ceremony on Oct. 4.

Since 1997, the Ministry of Culture has promoted a nationwide program of using railway art to revive abandoned factories and railway warehouses and to utilize such venues as public art spaces in Taiwan.
