An exhibition featuring nine female artists from the Central American nation of El Salvador is scheduled for Sept. 3 through 29 at the National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall.
The exhibition, co-organized by the Embassy of the Republic of El Salvador in Taipei and the Central America Trade Office, was jointly opened by the visiting Salvadoran Culture Secretary Ana Magdalena Granadino and Deputy Foreign Minister Simon Ko on Sept. 3.
The nine female artists handpicked from the best of Salvadoran visual arts during the 20th and 21st centuries are:

- Mayra Barraza
- Licry Bicard
- Julia Díaz
- Ana María Avilés de Martínez
- Conchita Kuny Mena
- Nicole Schwartz
- Rosa Mena Valenzuela
- Verónica Vides
El Salvador, which is located at the heart of Central America and known as the "treasure of the land,” has beautiful natural scenery and a diverse mix of cultures, the Ministry of Culture said in a statement.
After many political transformations, the artistic creation in the Salvadoran society has evolved into a unique artistic form of "small art” that includes embroidery, sewing, weaving and pottery.
To catch a glimpse of the important role of women in Salvadoran society, visit the Chihching Exhibition Room on the third floor of the National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall. The event is admission-free.
