‘The 2013 OrigSound Music Festival’

Address:No. 144 Zhōnghuá Rd., Hualian City, Hualien County, Taiwan 970 ‎

The 2013 OrigSound Music Festival organized by the Ministry of Culture is scheduled to kick off in mid-September at the eastern Taiwanese county of Hualien.

Now entering its fourth year, the festival will run between Sept. 14 and 22 at the Hualien Cultural and Creative Industries Park - which is also stylistically known as "a-zone” - while a related exhibition will be opened to the public starting Aug. 23 at the park's exhibition hall.

A total of 21 music groups and individuals, including aboriginal A Cappella group O-Kai Singers, Japanese jazz saxophonist Kaori Kobayashi, American trumpeter and composer Chris Botti and Taiwanese folk musician Huang Chieh, will participate in the nine-day music fest celebrating the spirit of original music this year.

Meanwhile, the exhibition was curated to reflect three major themes - "Breathing with Music,” "Appreciating Music” and "Heartfelt Moments.” Comprised of two pavilions - Music and Literature - the exhibition combines multimedia techniques with old facilities of the former winery to reflect the region's rich heritage.

The festival will focus on original music and live performances, whereas the exhibition will present the cultural and creative power of Hualian through displaying the works of Hualien-based writers such as Yang Mu and Chen Ko-hua.
