The Taoyuan County Cultural Affairs Bureau will be holding a series of traditional Chinese music concerts at Taoyuan City, Chungli City, Pingjhen City and Guishan Township to promote quality local Chinese orchestras from Aug. 16 through Sept. 8.

The 24-day festival called "Voice of the City - In Full Bloom” will hold a total of 14 free shows, including two outdoor concerts, according to the Taoyuan County Government. The opening show of the festival will be performed by a group of young students.

The festival's performance lineup includes the Taoyuan-based Chiuko Traditional Orchestra, the Taoyuan Youth Chinese Classical Orchestra, the Taipei Chinese Orchestra, renowned pipa soloist Yang Wei and Taiwan's all-female Musou Band.

It's the first time that a local governmental agency has organized an event to promote traditional Chinese music, the Taoyuan County Government noted. It explained that the concept of a traditional music festival came from wanting to provide the best platform to showcase local musicians and their admirableachievements.

The venues scheduled to host the 14 free shows include the Taoyuan Performance Center, the TaoyuanCultural Affairs Bureau's Performing Arts Halland the Zhongli Arts and Music Hall.
