Address:No.201 Daxing Rd., Taiping Dist., Taichung City 411, Taiwan

The world-famous ballet play "Swan Lake” and the fate of its doomed Princess Odette will be re-enacted in the central Taiwanese city of Taichung on Aug. 13, 2013.

The National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra, a subordinate organization of the Culture Ministry, and the Chamber Ballet Taipei, Taiwan's very own classic ballet troupe, have partnered together to retell the classic by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, the late Russian composer whose legacy includes ballet masterpieces such as "The Nutcracker” and "The Sleeping Beauty.”

The Aug. 13 collaboration will present a Taiwanese interpretation of "Swan Lake,” in which the classic beauty of ballet will be heightened through drama and music. Dirk Kaftan, guest director of the Austrian opera house Vienna Volksoper, will lead the performance.
