Hailing from the Italian design capital of Milan, a collection of contemporary chair designs by Taiwanese artists will be showcased in the central county of Nantou from July 5 through Sept. 8, 2013.

Since 2010, the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute (NTCRI) has been invited to represent Taiwan at the Milan Furniture Fair, one of the most prestigious design exhibitions in the world. This year, the NTCRI presented a collection of Taiwan's latest contemporary chair designs in Italyfrom April 9 to April 14, marking Taiwan as the only country from the Southeast Asian region to partake in the Milan event for three consecutive years.

The original display from the 2013 Milan Furniture Fair, which comprises of two exhibition areas, has been transferred to the NTCRI's headquarters in Nantou County. The displayed works include the 2012 Red Dot Award-winning "COMMATRIX” designed by the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology and "Ripple,” an oblong-shaped, gently rotating glass dome that creates shadows and patterns akin to reflected pool water.

The two-month exhibition will also feature videos and news clippings on the Taiwan Pavilion's international reception in Milan. For more information, please visit the event website at http://www.ntcri.gov.tw/ .
