An international exhibition featuring East Asian calligraphy is scheduled to open at the National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall on May 10 to promote the artworks by Taiwanese and Japanese artists, the Ministry of Culture said today.

The exhibition titled "the 4th Taiwan-Japan Calligraphy and Painting Cultural Exchange” is jointly organized by the National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall and Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in Japan. Being held in Taiwan for the fourth time, the exhibition runs until May 16.

Aiming to enhance people's appreciation of calligraphic works and paintings as well as aesthetic literacy, the exhibition is co-organized by the Japanese calligraphy association Zenniten, one of the major Japan calligraphy groups.

A total of 246 pieces of calligraphic works and paintings by 129 renowned Taiwanese and Japanese calligraphers will be on display at the seven-day exhibition.
