With the support of the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts' 2018 Digital Art Creation Competition Program, artist Su Shen-yuan (蘇紳源) will stage "Lines [online: { IN }tro of BEAST]," combining online digital technology and 3D rendering via a mobile app to digitize participants' interactive processes and create a fictional world inside the exhibition space with the use of projection.

The artwork will reflect upon the basic features commonly identified with online live streaming. These so-called streamers are constantly digitizing, changing, and uploading themselves onto the web, with the content of their live streams impacted by the gazes of viewers.

Relying solely on the two simple steps of being "online" or "offline," the data generated in great abundance is no longer harmless or simple once fame and greed become a part of the play. Reared by clicks and views, the "beast" swells, expands, and goes public, becoming a publicly traded entity that occupies physical reality.

These "giant beasts," such as Facebook or YouTube, are now deep-rooted in people's everyday lives. From a virtual world in cyberspace to the real world, they have evolved beyond being an interface. Within this context, these beasts are defined by "lines" — whether online or offline, or breaking through and stepping over lines.

"In Lines [online: { IN }tro of BEAST]", both exhibition-goers and live-stream viewers will contribute to the data on the screen, where the "beast" and the "lines" are manifesting. Through this interactive process, the digital installation encourages people to think beyond the images being presented on their screens, and contemplate upon what appears to be the perfect camouflage for a hiding beast bidding its time to pounce and strike.
