‘Writing with Soft Power’

Writing is a process of using symbols to express one's thoughts. It is a way to convey meaning. On view in this upcoming New Taipei exhibition are artworks created by seven female artists using various mediums and methods to initiate dialogue through a proverbial pen in "Writing with Soft Power," running from Jan. 18 to March 3 at the Far Glory Museum in Xizhi District.

Artists use images, words, brushstrokes, or other symbols during their creative process to express their experiences and viewpoints. It is not only a process of self-dialogue through the presence of the body, mind, and spirit; it also engages in dialogues with the audience, with a gentle, gradual, and penetrative approach utilized to deliver certain emotions and messages.

Through the three themes of "Dream and Reality Writing," "Body Writing," and "Documentary Writing," this exhibition shows the intricate personal observations and skillful and persistent creative approaches of the seven featured female artists, presenting their depictions on the realizations that they've had in life and how they perceive the world. At the same time, exhibitiongoers will be able to vicariously experience the personal journey of each artist.

Noting that "Writing presents in a flowing state, created within a frame, slowly filtering out, fulfilling oneself and others along the way," the curatorial statement pays respect to the literary and artistic souls of artists Chen Hui-chiao (陳慧嶠), Shieh Juin (謝鴻均), Chen Shiau-peng (陳曉朋), Chang Tzu-ching (張子晴), Hsu Yun-shan (許芸姍), Lin Ching-hsuan (林青萱), and Hsu Ru-fei (許汝翡).
