‘Taiwan Through the Photographer’s Lens’

Co-curated by the National Taiwan Museum and the upcoming National Photography Museum (國家攝影文化中心), a photography exposition themed "Taiwan Through the Photographer's Lens" will be held at the Ministry of Culture's first-floor gallery as part of the Reconstruction of Taiwan's Art History project (重建臺灣藝術史計畫).

The event, scheduled to wrap up on July 24, will provide visitors with a window to look back on the developmental progression of Taiwan's photography by combining the nation’s history with the island's natural and manmade landscapes.

"Taiwan Through the Photographer's Lens" will feature over 100 pieces of work by 25 photographers through three themes:

"Past as a Mirror" will mark the evolution of photographic technology by showcasing precious historic photos that have been digitally reproduced from their original century-old dry-plate form.

"Between Today and Yesterday" will highlight real-life images of Taiwanese society taken with the keen sense of observations of photographers and their creative spirit of passing down such records of everyday life from generation to generation.

"Natural Beauty" will present the unique charms of Taiwan's geography and wildlife through specialized camerawork including vertical photography, aerial photography, and panoramic photography.
