Did You Know That … ?

  • Although Lin was born to a wealthy family, he was already working to realize his dream while other 12-year-olds were playing cards and spinning tops. He traveled to Japan on his own to study in a Tokyo middle school, and he assigned himself additional homework by completing a study in a realistic style on a daily basis.

  • He became best known for his realistic depiction of nature, meticulous composition, and complimentary hues. His unique artistic style has been inherited by just over 20 students whom he taught during his lifetime.

  • After his death, his Japanese-style residence on Liuchuan W. Road in Taichung was converted into a memorial hall. Visitors can witness the natural environment the late maestro worked in, including a studio table covered with containers of pigments, glue, silk, and other materials.
