Did You Know That …?

• Yen Shui-long was an avid oil painter, but he also worked extensively with other mediums, including basket weaving with bamboo stripes, furniture design, and mosaic murals.

• A part of his daily routine was to quickly do a sketch or two during the afternoon, after which he would return home and complete the painting from memory.

• His lifelong interest in crafts and weaving manifested in various ways, such as maintaining a colorful collection of indigenous textiles and designing his own neckties.
