Taiwan will join the 2019 Interior Lifestyle Tokyo, which will run from July 17 through 19, with an extensive range of home and lifestyle products incorporating Taiwan's culture and aesthetics at Booth No. A-42.
Led by the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute (NTCRI), which has been increasing awareness of Taiwan's brands and expanding their market share by participating in international trade fairs, a total of eight brands were selected by NTCRI to showcase their products this year in Tokyo.
The featured brands will showcase exquisite crafts that embody diverse cultural elements. For example, Temoku Starring (天目熒星) will introduce its take on the age-old Japanese pottery and porcelain of tenmoku, which is styled after classic Chinese wares of the southern Song dynasty, while the Kaohsiung-based Tsai Ching Ceramics (采青窯) will promote its products that are made with au natural materials.
Hualien wares maker HunShen (魂生製器) will unveil its nature-inspired patterned trays and ceramic goods, while JIAJ Living Art Studio (JIAJ 生活物件) from Tainan fuses metal such as tin with imprints of daily memories to create personalized utensils, vessels, and functional accessories.
Fellow metallurgic studio Orixin Metal Art (本芯金屬工藝) will bring a line of metallic works based on local culture, and Silverplants (植物語彙) will present tea wares and silver jewelry that take inspiration from plant scents, textures, flowers, and seeds.
Working exclusively with plant fiber such as tree bark and twine, Atelier Unique Tapa (獨樹依織工作室) has curated a selection of wearable art, while OUI Design (微一設計) has chosen to spotlight the beauty of trees in another way by crafting toys and lifestyle products that stay true to the warmth and sheen of natural wood.
Established in 2008, Interior Lifestyle Tokyo represents the Japanese high-end interior design market. More information can be found at the NTCRI's event website www.interiorlifestyle-tokyo2019.com.
