"2021 Taipei Fashion Week AW21" will be kicking off on March 11 at Songshan Cultural and Creative Park. With the theme "Sustainable Fashion," Taipei Fashion Week AW21 invites designers to collaborate with domestic textile industry to blend functional fabrics with fashion aesthetic.

Vice Culture Minister Lee Lien-chuan (李連權), Foreign Trade Bureau Secretary-general Tai Wan-jung (戴婉蓉), Ministry of Education official Lee Yu-chuan (李毓娟), and Golden Horse Award winning actress Chen Shu-fang (陳淑芳) attended the press conference for Taipei Fashion Week on March. 4.

Vice Culture Minister Lee remarked that jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Economic Affairs and Ministry of Education, the 2021 Taipei Fashion Week will be focused on sustainable fashion and designs delivering the messages of "function, sustainability, cross-disciplinary, diversity, and humanity." The fashion week will bring together the creativities of Taiwanese designers to showcase on the international stage and generate new momentum for the industry to bloom, he added.

2021 Taipei Fashion Week will have five major spotlights. First, it will be holding physical catwalk fashion shows with live audience attendance. The second highlight is that the 2021 fashion week will be held twice this year, portioned into spring/summer and autumn/winter shows.

The third spotlight is an "International Fashion Buyer Marketplace," organized with the collaboration of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, to promote Taiwanese fashion industry to the international market. Virtual meetings will be launched to allow designers to interact with international buyers and branch out to potential international clients in emerging markets.

The fourth highlight is the young talent-student show, with fashion design students from four Taiwan universities displaying cross-disciplinary sound and visual performances.

Last but not least, there will be a "TPEFW Select Shop," introducing more than 40 top Taiwanese designers at Bellavita, a shopping mall in Taipei. The pop-up store will also showcase recognized Taiwanese brands from previous Fashion Week, in addition to Taiwanese accessory and leather brands.

On the eve of the official opening, internationally-recognized designer Shiatzy Chen will present the latest collection of Shiatzy Chen fashion brand at Museum of Drinking Water in Taipei on March 10.
