'Taiwan Asean Music Action' to hold online forum on international music industry

The "Taiwan Asean Music Action" (2021臺灣獨立音樂馬來西亞平臺計畫:臺灣東協造音行動)," co-organized by the Ministry of Culture and the Cultural Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Malaysia and carried out by the Malaysian "Roar Media" group, will be holding a Chinese and English bilingual online forum on international music industry on March 29, inviting musicians from Taiwan and Southeast Asia to analyze the general situation of the music industry. The event will be broadcast live on the official Facebook page for those interested in the development of music exchange.

The forum will explore the challenge brought by the pandemic for music industries in Taiwan, Singapore and Malaysia and their responses. Among the participating musicians and music promoters from Taiwan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand are Malaysian film scorer Jia Wang (佳旺) for the award-winning film "Your Name Engraved Herein (刻在我心底的名字)," founder of Singapore music magazine "Fresh Music" Chen Yu-neng (陳玉能), founder of Thai music technology startup platform "Fungjai" Piyapong, and marketing director of Taiwan's "Atrip" Huang Jun-hao (黃俊豪).

TECO in Malaysia noted that Taiwanese pop music is popular throughout Asia, especially in Southeast Asian countries such as Malaysia and Singapore that have large Chinese-speaking populations. However, since the outbreak of COVID-19, many Taiwanese independent and popular music performances scheduled in Southeast Asia have been seriously affected.

TECO in Malaysia hopes to promote Taiwanese music through "Taiwan Asean Music Action (臺灣東協造音行動)" so that music fans in Malaysia and Southeast Asia can acquire a deeper understanding of Taiwan's rich and diverse musical works and productions of Taiwan’s music sector can be deeply rooted in ASEAN's music market.
