TAICCA launches 'Trip to Taiwan from the Mind' in Japan to promote Taiwan's culture

With travel restrictions still in place in many parts of the world, Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA) has launched a series of events "Trip to Taiwan from the Mind (腦內旅行臺灣)" in Tokyo to satisfy pandemic wanderlusts, with Japan chosen as the first destination to introduce Taiwanese culture starting on Aug. 16.

To open up a new chapter for cultural exchanges and deepen the friendship between Taiwan and Japan, TAICCA provides the Japanese public with an in-depth experience of Taiwanese culture through Taiwan-themed lectures, literary works, and exhibitions about daily grocery.

To promote Taiwanese works, the events cooperated with three bookstores ranges from "Elite Spectrum Nibonbashi (誠品生活日本橋)," "Book & Beer (本屋B&B)," and "DA VINCI STORE."

Each bookstore will set up a special area, according to its style and customer base to take the Japanese people on a journey to Taiwan through books and groceries.

More than 50 Taiwan-related books and 10 Taiwanese grocery brands will be displayed featuring Wu Ming-yi's (吳明益) "The Man with the Compound Eyes (複眼人)," Chi Wei-jan's (紀蔚然) "Private Eyes (私家偵探)," "Detention (返校)" by Li Ze-you (李則攸) and Wu Shang-yi (巫尚益), among others.

Moreover, four lectures will be held in each bookstore to introduce Taiwan's content in physical and online ways. Speakers are cultured people familiar with Taiwan including Taiwan’s Digital Minister Audrey Tang (唐鳳), Naoki Prize winner Nonami Asa (乃南亞沙), voice actress and prose writer Haruna Ikezawa (池澤春菜), book coordinator Shintaro Uchinuma (內沼晉太郎).

Through this event, TAICCA hopes to also encourage the licensing of copyrights of Taiwanese and continues to build Taiwan's national brand in the international marketplace.
