Taiwanese architect, artists invited to Setouchi Asia Forum in Japan

The third edition of Setouchi Asia Forum organized by well-known Japanese curator Fram Kitagawa (北川富朗) will be held on Oct. 17. Renowned Taiwanese architect Huang Sheng-yuan (黃聲遠), artist Wang Wen-chih (王文志), and illustrator Jimmy (幾米) have been invited to attend the event, where they will appear remotely from Taiwan via video link.

The theme at this year's forum is an online program titled "Artists' Breath Live," with 50 artists from around the world, focusing on how artists are living, thinking and creating in the midst of the pandemic.

The three Taiwanese attendees will be presenting photos paired with a few short reflections, while also providing insight into their expectations and goals in the post-pandemic world.

Huang Sheng-yuan said that in addition to the short piece of writing, he will also provide four photos of recent works, including the transformed park in Jiaoxi, the Guan-Pu Elementary School in Hsinchu city, the Luodong Cultural Working House, the Wei-Shui Chiang Memorial Cemetery.

The forum was first launched as part of the Setouchi International Art Triennale in 2016, with the goal of establishing an international platform for individuals with experience of regional revitalization. In addition, contemporary art festival, which has become the model of the community construction of art and public art, attracts nearly one million tourists and art lovers every year.
