Taiwanese renowned art team Luxury Logico to present its works in Japan for the first time

Supported by Taiwan Cultural Center in Tokyo, Taiwanese renowned art team Luxury Logico (豪華朗機工) will participate in the Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale (ETAT) 2022 with its art project "Fly! no matter what (天氣好不好我們都要飛)." For the first time, Luxury Logico's works will be shown in Japan.

This year, a total of 333 works by international artists will be exhibited at ETAT, which will be held from Apr. 29 through Nov. 13 at the Echigo-Tsumariyama Museum of Contemporary Art, Japan. According to Luxury Logico, the artists created a black-and-white 3D animation, capturing the way birds fly and printing it frame by frame. They later ran a workshop for local primary and junior high school students to freely color on the printed version. A total of 4,000 drawings were scanned and re-edited into an animation for screening. Through this artwork, the artists convey the idea of people moving forward with the spirit of bravery in the face of the pandemic and challenges.

Last year, Fram Kitagawa (北川富朗), general director of Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale and internationally celebrated curator, and Chen Yi (陳乂), a member of Luxury Logico, were invited to participate in an online talk organized by the Taiwan Cultural Center in Tokyo and Art Collective (美術手帖). Following the previous success, Fram Kitagawa took the initiative this year to invite members of Luxury Logico, Chang Geng-hwa (張耿華) and Chen Yi, to give an in-depth introduction of their exhibited works at the festival as well as their creative process and other works. Three video series will also be released on the official website of the festival, demonstrating Luxury Logico's creativity and energy.

The largest outdoor art festival in the world, Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale has been held once every three years in the Echigo-Tsumari region, Japan. Since its inception in 2000, more than 2.64 million people from all over the world have visited ETAT, which holds an important position in the contemporary art field.
