The final session of Tea Philo 2022 will take place virtually on Oct. 29, inviting Jenny Lee (李惠貞), the founder of "A Creative Reading Initiative: The Unicorn Project," to share her views on reading physical books and why it still matters even in the digital age. The online talk will be hosted by Chiew Ruoh Peng (周若鵬), the CEO of Mentor Publishing.
In 2017, Lee began "The Unicorn Project," an initiative dedicated to promoting reading culture through activities, exhibitions, and talks, with an attempt to entice readers to reconnect with physical reading spaces like bookstores and libraries. The project encourages the public to revalue the meaning of learning and reading as well as finding one’s calling in life, therefore, it resonated with many people and received positive feedback.
As a veteran in publishing, Lee was the editor-in-chief of the "Shopping Design" magazine from 2011 to 2017, and won Best Editor-in-chief of the Golden Tripod Award during that period. Currently, Lee works as a consulting editor of "Shopping Design." She is also a writer who has published books including "As Free as the Ocean (成為自由人)" and "The Surprising Power of Reading (給未來的讀者)." During the online talk, Lee will share the meaning and value of physical bookstores and paper books as well as her experience of running "The Unicorn Project."
