Taiwanese and Thai designers to join Bangkok Design Week 2023

Thailand's annual art and cultural event, Bangkok Design Week (BKKDW), will kick off on Feb. 4, under the theme "Co with Creation." At the invitation of the Ministry of Culture (MOC), seven artworks sharing the observations and ideas of Taiwanese and Thai designers will be displayed; while the Taiwan Design Research Institute (TDRI) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MoEA) will be showcasing works related to the concept of circular design.

The nine-day BKKDW is organized by the Creative Economy Agency (CEA). Activities and exhibitions will be held in different districts in Bangkok, centering around the Thailand Creative & Design Center, hoping to showcase Thailand's creative energy in the art and cultural aspect.

Curator Kuo Yu-pei (郭俞霈), who has been residing in Thailand for eight years, has living experiences in both Taiwan and Thailand. Setting "Gพิ凝AนิZ視จE (GAZE)" as the theme of her exhibition, Kuo said that, everyone has been slowing down their pace of life for the past two years because of the pandemic, so she hopes that people can grasp this opportunity and look back on the experiences in life and integrate them into the creations.

Bangkok Design Week proposes the prominence of Bangkok's design and creative works. Through these works, the festival presents ambitious ideas and new possibilities of Bangkok, now and in the future. Celebrated in the creative districts, these creative works range from experimental pieces to works with social and business impacts. With fun activities and memorable experiences, the festival is blended beautifully with the charm of Bangkok and attracts visitors from across the world to experience Bangkok's latest happening.
