Two Taiwanese performance groups will kick off this year's Blossom Arts Festival Malaysia with the "Splendour of Taiwan” program on Aug. 4 in Kuala Lumpur.
Organized by the Malaysian Chinese Culture & Arts Consultative Council and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia, the festival invites Da-Guan Dance Theater (大觀舞集) of the National Taiwan University of Arts and HRC Bboy to present Taiwan's contemporary culture through lively performances.
Formed by students from the NTUA Department of Dance, the Da-Guan Dance Theater brings together performers and artists in the university to create pieces that integrate multimedia, theater, music, and fine arts.
The Da-Guan Dance Theater will bring a brand-new performance that integrates the essence of traditional and contemporary dance to present the vitality and spirit of Taiwan and enhance international cultural exchanges.
HRC Bboy is a Taipei-based street dance troupe established in 2000. Consisting of twelve young members, the troupe is a leading group that has represented Taiwan to participate in overseas competitions. In 2011, it won the 3rd prize at the international breakdancing competition BOTY.
HRC Bboy will be sharing the stage with the Malaysian Unity Crew for a street dance battle on Aug. 4 and 5.
Representative Chang Chi-ping (章計平) of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia noted that it is a great honor for Taiwan to participate in the arts festival again.
The Blossom Arts Festival is an annual festival held to provide a platform for celebrating and promoting the Chinese cultural and arts scene in Malaysia.
Each year, the festival features a wide range of programs including arts performances, exhibitions, family activities, forums, film screenings, and photography competitions, as well as tea ceremonies and flower arrangement sessions for the public to learn more about Chinese culture and art.
