Seven Taiwanese professors and cultural professionals will host a two-day "Symposium on Culture & Creative Arts Industry” in Malaysia from June 24 through 25.
Organized by the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia and the National Taiwan Normal University, the seminar will be held prior to the upcoming Blossom Arts Festival Malaysia to imbue participating individuals, groups, and organizations with the unique cultural experiences of Taiwan.
The hosts include Chairman Chen Yu-xiu (陳郁秀) of the Taiwan Broadcasting System; professors Lin Shu-chen (林淑真), Hsia Hsueh-li (夏學理), Ho Kang-kuo (何康國) and Hsu Ho-chieh (許和捷) of the National Taiwan Normal University; ceramist Li Guo-qin (李國欽); and Chairman Jiang Qin-zhong (江慶鐘) of the Six Star Foot Massage Center.
They will share their experiences and knowledge of Taiwan's cultural and creative industry to inspire and encourage artists and cultural practitioners in Malaysia to drive the development of their own cultural economy.
Deputy Director Chew Mei-fun (周美芬) of Malaysia's Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development noted that culture and arts provide a major source of income for many countries. Malaysia, with its diverse and unique heritage, definitely has great potential in incubating cultural creativity, she added.
The two-day symposium will cover issues including "World Trends: Culture and Art Management and the Prospects of Cultural Policy,” "A City of World Design: Creative Taipei,” "Traditional Culture and Contemporary Industries,” "Overseas Experiences of Creative People,” and "Before and Now—Culture, Creativity, and Industry” through forums, workshops, and speeches.
The Malaysian Chinese Culture & Arts Consultative Council, organizer of Blossom Arts Festival Malaysia, has high hopes for the seminars to guide local cultural practitioners and artists to deepen their marketing skills and accentuate the value of their works.
