B. Dance to debut award-winning choreography in HK

Taiwanese choreographer Benson Tsai (蔡博丞) and his contemporary dance group B. Dance (丞舞製作團隊) will hold their Hong Kong debut of "Hugin/Munin,” an award-winning production inspired by Norse mythology, this December.

'Hugin / Munin' is inspired by the story of two ravens that accompany the one-eyed Norse god Odin. Hugin represents 'thought' while Munin represents 'memory.' Tsai conceptualized the story and deftly integrated martial arts into the 10-minute contemporary dance, in which two dancers are transformed into semi-autonomous ravens.

Tsai captured first place for contemporary choreography at the 2015 Burgos-New York Choreography Competition, and 'Hugin / Munin' was lauded by Ana Cabo, former artistic director of the Madrid International Dance Competition, as the best performance she has seen in 14 years.

Hong Kong audiences will be able to evaluate "Hugin / Munin” for themselves when these Taiwanese dancers join their Korean and Japanese counterparts in Sheung Wan from Dec. 9 through 11 as part of a performance festival organized by the Hong Kong Dance Company.

"8/F Platform X - A Decade of Creativity” will take place at the Hong Kong Dance Company's headquarters in Sheung Wan Civic Centre, where B. Dance will share a stage with acclaimed artists such as Company SIGA and Maholra Company from South Korea, and Japan's Yuri Nagaoka and Namstrops.

B. Dance will also hold a dance workshop on "physical poetics” on Dec. 6. For more information on the dance festival, please visit www.hkdance.com. Tickets are offered a 30% discount with the promotional code UF4875 on www.urbtix.hk.

Hugin, Munin, please send our warmest regards to God Odin.
