Taiwanese writer, translator to hold Tokyo forum

A literary forum will be held at the Taiwan Culture Center in Tokyo on Oct. 30, featuring keynote speeches by Taiwanese author Tsai Su-fen (蔡素芬) and Taiwanese scholarLin Shui-fu (林水福).


Tsai is a notable writer who has received numerous literary awards in Taiwan. With the upcoming release of the Japanese version of her works - "The Child of Salt Pan (鹽田兒女)” and "The Olive Tree (橄欖樹),” Tsai will introduce and explore the theme of "emotions” in Japan.


Lin is a Japanese teacher, author, and translator in Taiwan who has translated works by Japanese authors such as Nitobe Inazō, Junichirō Tanizak, Shūsaku Endō, and Inoue Yasushi. He will be delivering a speech on contemporary Taiwan-Japan exchanges in literature.


Two prominent Japanese scholars, Ikeda Isao (池田功) and Mochizuki Yoshitsugu (望月善次), will also discuss the trajectory of modern poetry in Taiwan and Japan.
