The 2015 SCOT Summer Season featuring Taiwanesetheater actor Chen Po-ting (陳柏廷) and director Hung Hung (鴻鴻) will run from Aug. 21 through Sept. 6 at theToga Village of Japan's Toyama Prefecture.

Organized by SCOT (Suzuki Company of Toga), the annual SCOT Summer Season is Japan's first international theater festival that was established by stage director Tadashi Suzuki in 1982. This year, the event encompasses a segment called Toga Asian Arts Festival and a celebratory gala party dedicated to the 90th birthday of dance master Hironobu Oikawa.

Suzuki gained global fame through his "Suzuki Method,” a school of acting emphasizing the natural movement of one's physical and emotional expressions. Each year, the festival attracts a number of international followers who havepracticed the Suzuki Method before to perform and exchange ideas during the two-week affair.

Chen, a theater actor who has previously trained under both Suzuki and Oikawa, will be performing in Summer Season 2015. The lineup includes six iconic works directed by Suzuki to celebrate the 50th anniversary of SCOT's establishment as well as the 40th anniversary of the festival.

The six classics are: "The Trojan Women (1974),” "King Lear (1984),” "Greetings from the Edge of the Earth (1991),” "Electra (1995),” "Cinderella (2012),” and "The Origin of the Song ‘Karatachi Nikki' (2014).”

Taiwanese director Hung Hung will also be presenting featured play "Picnic on the Battlefield,” collaborating with troupes from China, South Korea, and Japan to show his version based on the original play by Spanish playwright Fernando Arrabal.
