Three dynamic and stylistically different music bands will be representing Taiwan at one of Asia's largest music festivals — Music Matters in Singapore — from May 20 through 24.
Neo-psychedelic rock band Echo (回聲樂團), one of the most accomplished indie bands to rise from Taiwan's music scene in recent years, holds three performance slots at the Music Matters festival. They will be at China One Main on May 20 (8pm - 8.30pm); Paulaner on May 22 (11.40pm - 12;10am); and Switch by Timbre on May 23 (10.40pm - 11.20pm).
Taiwanese-Canadian band io (io樂團) will showcase their unique blend of electro-indie pop on the main event stages of the Clarke Quay harbor venue. They will be at China One Main on May 22 (10pm - 10.30pm); Fountain Stage on May 22 (7pm - 7.20pm); and Switch by Timbre on May 23 (9.30pm - 10.10pm).
Taiwan's MJ116 (頑童MJ116), a three-man R&B ensemble who will be performing alongside Australia's Coin Banks and Singaporean rapper Shigga Shay, has been booked for four slots. They will be at Refuge on May 20 (11.45pm - 12.15am); Fountain Stage on May 21 (8.25pm - 8.45pm); Beer Market on May 23 (10.30pm - 11pm); and Switch by Timbre on May 23 (11.50pm - 12.30pm).
Music Matters is accompanied by a global music forum and networking events for industry professionals. Four delegates each representing a different segment of Taiwan's music market will also discuss digital music trends under the theme "Gateway to Taiwan” at the Singapore forum.
