Taiwan craft designers, brands to bring 'comfort' to Singapore fair

The National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute will lead eight outstanding Taiwan craft brands to join the International Furniture Fair Singapore (IFFS) taking place from March 8 through 11.

Launched in 1981, IFFS is held annually in conjunction with the ASEAN Furniture Show (AFS) and NOOK Asia. As a leading sourcing platform and design-led trade fair in Asia, it provides the most distinctive channel for regional and international companies to enter the global market. It also allows participants to discover the latest trends in design as well as boost creativity.

The Nook Asia pavilion, in particular, brings together quality and diverse companies to showcase a wide range of products spanning furniture, home accessories, lifestyle items, and crafts in a regional-themed section.

Under the banner “Comfort Zone,” the Taiwan pavilion this year will create a cozy ambience to suggest an enjoyable lifestyle, offering visitors a comfortable and relaxing home-like experience through the display of crafts from Taiwan.

The eight brands include Taiwan International Invention and Design gold prize winner Taiwan Rush Shop (台藺工坊), the 2017 IFFS Best Decor Award-winning brand Taiping Blue (太平藍), Motor Design Group (穆德設計) that integrates eastern and western aesthetics to produce green products, and the Golden Pin Design Award-wining furniture brand YIH Wood Studio (壹一).

There are also Eguchi Toys (江口設計) that design tools for Montessori education, Mufun design studio (木趣設計工作室) that incorporates elements of Taiwan ecology into its wood products, Taiwan Good Craft-certified lighting company Geway (格瑋), and DAQI CONCEPT (大器創意) that combines traditional craftsmanship and modern technology in its design.

Last year, the IFFS hosted a total of 428 companies from 29 countries and received more than 20,000 buyers from 87 countries exploring Asia-made goods.
