The residency will be based at the Papeteries ‒ Image Factory, a unique hub for digital imagery in Annecy. Three selected artists-in-residence will be provided with workspace, resources, and professional networking opportunities to help them develop their animation projects with focuses on artistic reflection and evolution.

During the residency period from Apr. 5 to June 27, 2021, the artists-in-residence will receive English or French mentorships from French animator Benjamin Renner, Irish animator and filmmaker Nora Twomey, French director Jérémy Clapin, Paris-based filmmaker Florence Miailhe, French director of animated films Sébastien Laudenbach, French animator Éléa Gobbé-Mévellec, and French film editor Benjamin Massoubre.

In addition, the selected candidates will have a chance to showcase their creation at the pitch session and meet with animation professionals at the International Animation Film Market (MIFA), one of the international major events in the animation industry.

"The development of the Artists' Residency, which focuses on feature films, is an important and historic step for Annecy. Land of the Festival, Annecy will now become land of creation," said Mickaël Marin, CITIA’s Chief Executive Officer.

The residency has been created with support from the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region, the Haute-Savoie Department in the region, France's Centre National du Cinéma, and the France TV.

The selected candidates will be provided with basic accommodation for the duration of residency in addition to a monthly grant of €1,000 and one round trip plane or train ticket.

The candidates will be informed of their selection after deliberations at the beginning of October 2020. Three recipients of the residency will be selected in consultation with the directors and producers. As a signatory to the 50/50 Charter, CITIA pays particular attention to respecting gender parity.
