Taiwanese pianist Lu Chia-hui launches five major programs at Austria's Ars Electronic Festival

Due to the pandemic, Ars Electronica Festival in Austria will be holding a performance online from Sep. 8 to 12 this year, featuring Taiwanese pianist Lu Chia-hui (盧佳慧) who will be promoting "Sacred Garden (神聖的花園)" which contains five major programs from the Egret Foundation (白鷺鷥文教基金會) in the hope of displaying Taiwan's soft power.

The performances this time is a transnational production of new technological art works after integrating the data and experience accumulated by the Egret Foundation for over 20 years with the aim of bringing Taiwanese thought to the world stage.

The five online performances include "Amore (夢鍵愛琴)," "Sayion (莎韻)," "XR Obsession (迷),” "Sound of Taiwan (聲動台灣)," and "Beauty of Taiwan (生動台灣)."

"Amore" is a performance based on love, the five elements of the East and the concept of yin and yang. "Sayion" is another performance set against the backdrop of a historical story about an indigenous girl.

Furthermore, the new XR performance "XR Obsession" intertwines reality and fiction and uses 4D Views to capture the complete process of the piano and dancer’s performance through capturing the panorama, then integrating VR, AR, MR, XR technology to reflect the charm of multiplication.

Additionally, two Taiwanese composers Gordon S. W. Chin (金希文) and Chien Nan-chang (錢南章) will perform the new record-breaking concert "Sound of Taiwan" and present a short film "Beauty of Taiwan," which introduces Taiwan’s diverse history and rich natural ecology.

Born in 1976, Lu Chia-hui is a pioneering artist and an avid participant in Taiwan's art scene. In addition to being a composer, a music director, and a renowned concert pianist, Lu also serves as the Chairwoman of the Egret Foundation, carrying forth the organization's 27-year tradition of promoting Taiwanese music and culture.
