Two Taiwanese artists, Chang Teng-yuan (張騰遠) and Wang Yu-song (王煜松), will feature their artwork at the Taiwan Art Week in Madrid running from Feb. 23 through 27.

Co-organized by the Cultural Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Spain and Taiwan's art gallery Yiri Arts, the Taiwan Art Week will showcase Chang’s "Parrot Man (鸚鵡人)" at Art Madrid from Feb. 23 to 27, and Wang's "Hualien White Lighthouse (花蓮白燈塔)" at Hybrid Art from Feb. 25 to 27.

Chang, by turning characters from well-known classic works into human-like parrots, reflects the changing of the environment in real life in his "Parrot Man" painting series. "Hualien White Lighthouse" by Wang explores the meaning of painting in relation to the practice of the body through searching for the "white lighthouse in the port of Hualien" in the works of Taiwanese poet Yang Mu (楊牧).

"This is the seventh time that Yiri Arts participates in the art fair held in Madrid. This year, by collaborating with the Cultural Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Spain, I hope to introduce the diverse and vibrant creative energy of Taiwanese art through artists of two different generations and different types, who use different mediums to create art," said Orton Huang (黃禹銘), artistic director of Yiri Arts.

To realize its blueprint of "Everyday Art Museum" and the dream of "letting art enter and enrich people's everyday life," Yiri Arts has been participating in international art fairs to help Taiwanese artists showcase works on the international stage since its establishment in 2014.

For the Taiwan Art Week in Madrid, the Cultural Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Spain has launched limited-edition promotional bags, which feature "Social Media (社群媒體)," a painting by Chang that pays homage to the renowned work "The Third of May 1808" by Spanish painter Francisco Goya.
