Taiwanese electronic music artist Veeeky to present multimedia fantasies at Spain's Sonar Music Festival

Ministry of Culture is collaborating with Sonar (Spanish: Sónar), the world's most renowned and progressive music festival, for the first time. For this year's edition, Taiwanese electronic artist Veeeky will bring a fantastic electronic music experience to the audience on June 16 in Barcelona, Spain.

Veeeky has been working in the fields of technology, art and electronic music for many years, and is internationally renowned for her fanciful and magnificent style. She commented that she is looking forward to presenting her latest visual and music creations on the stage after the pandemic, sharing her reflections in the ever-changing world. While her husband has made a name for himself with his blending of contemporary and traditional Asian music, Veeeky's work expands on that template. It's hybrid both in terms of format and content, exploring both the contemporary Asian culture and "post-internet" aesthetics. At Sonar 2022 she will bring together her musical and visual practices, with a narrative live set that explores themes of technology and fantasy, the real and the hyperreal.

Chang Yu-hsuan (張祐瑄), an official at the Cultural Division of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Spain, hopes that this collaboration will bring more performance opportunities for Taiwanese new media artists and enhance the international reputation of Taiwan's electronic music creation.

Founded in 1994 by Ricard Robles, Enric Palau and Sergi Caballero, this year's Sonar Music Festival will run from June 16 to 18. With the improvement of the new media technology, it is not only the largest electronic music festival but also an experimental field for avant-garde music and a laboratory for tech startups.
