As part of the most-celebrated puppetry festival in Spain, Taiwan's Chin Fei Feng Marionette Theatre Troupe (錦飛鳳傀儡戲劇團) will tour Segovia, Zamora, Salamanca, Alcobendas, Avilam and Madrid from May 7 through 16.
The International Puppet Theater Festival of Titirimundi (El Festival Internacional de Títeres de Segovia, Titirimundi) established in 1985 takes place every year in the Spanish city of Segovia. The week-long festival offers shows and street events throughout the region, and this year Chin Fei Feng will join its 30th edition alongside 31 troupes from around the world.
Chin Fei Feng belongs to the Quanzhou School of string puppetry, which is known for its use of round-figured and delicate puppets. Each marionette is controlled with fourteen strings, enabling the performers to master a wide array of different characters ranging from lions and warriors to horseback riders and acrobats.
The troupe will stage "Happy Couple's Outing on Lantern Festival Eve (嘉禮迎春戲元宵)” for Spanish audiences. The drama portrays the joyful scene of a couple named Good Fortune Chu and Happiness Chin going out on the eve of the Chinese Lantern Festival. Chin Fei Feng puppeteers will offer exquisitely controlled marionettes to present the delightful and humorous drama.
