Chang Dance Theater (長弓舞蹈劇場), a contemporary dance troupe based in Taiwan, will stage a dance piece titled "Fabrication (魔弓)” at the 2016 Rencontres Essonne Danse in France from March 18 through 20.
Established in 2011, Chang Dance Theater consists of four brothers from the Chang family. The troupe emerged on the international scene following its participation in the France-based Danse élargie in 2012, where its performance stood out among others in the dance competition.
"Fabrication” is a magic-inspired work in which magic show elements are integrated into the performance. The troupe has staged it at the 2014 OFF Festival d'Avignon and positive reviews led the troupe to perform the same production in Spain later that year.
The 16th edition of the Rencontres Essonne Danse will take place from March 12 through April 12, with a total of 23 dance troupes presenting multi-cultural performances in twelve different theaters. Taiwanese choreographers Chou Shu-yi (周書毅) and Sun Shang-chi (孫尚綺) had joined the previous editions.
