Taiwan pop, punk bands to perform at Barcelona’s Primavera Pro

Taiwanese bands The Fur and Outlet Drift (漂流出口) will be showcased at Primavera Pro, a Barcelona trade show where the present and future of the music business will meet from May 30 through June 3. Their performances will be accompanied by talks from Taiwan music agent Weining Hung (洪維寧), who runs a booking agency and international management firm for Asian artists.

The Fur is a three-piece dream pop outfit from Taiwan. Launched in Kaohsiung in summer 2016, the indie trio utilizes drum machines, synths, electric guitars, and vocals to create catchy music with a romantic undertone.

Punk band Outlet Drift was hatched among three young Amis musicians in Taitung. Their transformation of traditional tribal lore and songs into grunge rock give rise to captivating performances, replete with swollen emotions and unfamiliar words.

Hung is a trailblazer in the Taiwan music industry whose previous endeavors include a crowdfunding platform aimed at helping musicians acquire funds to go on tours, and events that combine music with food, drinks, and games. She now splits her time between Asia and Europe to build networks for Asian music.

The Fur and Outlet Drift will both take on the Night Pro Stage on June 2 at Parc del Fòrum, and the Day Pro Stage on June 3 at Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona.

Hung will host an international music forum to discuss planning and coordination for touring Asia on May 30 at Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona. She will also share her experiences in introducing music from Taiwan to European audiences.
