Taiwanese Interdisciplinary artist Joyce Ho to feature in inaugural Asia Society Triennial

Taiwanese multimedia artist Joyce Ho (何采柔) will be showcasing her installations and performing art pieces from Mar. 16, 2021 to June 27 in New York, as part of the inaugural Asia Society Triennial – the first recurring initiative in the U. S. devoted to contemporary art from and about Asia and Asian diasporas.

In addition to exhibiting her artworks, Ho will team up with two Taiwanese performing artists to present her piece "An Artist Talk" in the Asia Society Museum, which will be followed by a talk featuring the artist herself and Boon Hui Tan, the artistic director of the triennial event.

Ho, a Taipei native, is a versatile artist whose works traverse illustrations, paintings, sculptures, installations, audiovisual arts, and performances. Inspired by human relation, casual conversations, and social events, the 37-year-old artist seeks to cast light on daily bits and pieces that have been overlooked through her creations.

Over the years, the University of Iowa graduate has held numerous solo exhibitions and her works are no stranger to major art festivals around the world, including 2020 Yokohama Triennale in Japan, 2019 OzAsia Festival and 2018 Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art in Australia.

This first edition of the Asia Society Triennial, titled We Do Not Dream Alone, features over 40 artists and collectives from 20 countries with an aim to share Asian experience and display how artists from this religion address their concerns.

Composed of exhibitions, interdisciplinary panels, forums, and performances, the event will unfold in two successive parts, with the first one from Oct. 27, 2020 to Feb. 7, 2021 and the second from Mar. 16 to June 27, 2021 at the Asia Society Museum and participating venues throughout Manhattan.
